Tank Contents

This tank has been converted into a nano reef tank. The display tank is a 15 gallon long tank that has been drilled for an overflow. The refugium is a 10 gallon that has been drilled for a return pump.

I am currently running an Aqua-C Remora nano skimmer that is working excellent. The return pump is a Rio 2100, with a flow limiter on it. It is currently running at about 275 gph.For heating I have a stelth 150wt heater. The lighting consists of 2-24" retro t-5's. I am also using the PinPoint wireless thermometer as well. I have a cheato and 6lbs of live rock in the refugium along with 3lbs of sand. The refugium is currently housing a mantis shrimp.

The main display currently houses a black misbar Percula, sea bass, and a black clown Goby. There is also a mithrax crab, and a peppermint shrimp. I have lots of corals that came out of my main display reef tank. There are lots of frags of zoas, couple frags of acans, a red monti cap, an Australian hammer, green polyp toadstool, and several types of mushrooms.

Nano Fish

A nano fish is a fish considered to stay a small size as an adult. There are lots of Nano fish to choose from. Some of the more popular are Percula and Oscellaris clownfish, any of the clown goby species, firefish, and many more. www.liveaquaria.com has a nice selection of nano fish. Just amke sure they are compatable species before purchasing your nano species.

What is a nano tank?

A nano reef is a type of Marine aquarium, a reef tank of less than 20 gallons. The exact limit that distinguishes a nano reef from a regular reef is somewhat ill-defined (some claim that anything less than 40 gallons would qualify), but 20 gallons seems to be the generally accepted limit. Nano reefs have become quite popular in recent years among fish keeping hobbyists, primarily because of smaller size, maintainability, and the possibility of lower costs. The burgeoning interest in this niche of marine aquarium science has fostered several notable contributions ranging from specific consumer products such as specialized aquarium filters, compact high intensity lighting systems and smaller circulation pumps. Such equipment allows the aquarist to maintain an environment wherein many marine organisms are capable of thriving.
